Big block quilt patterns are some of my favorite quilt patterns and this woven star quilt is no exception. The woven star quilt block is a complex-looking block that is actually quite simple to assemble! This version uses half square triangles to make up the woven design which makes it beginner friendly!

This quilt pattern uses 4 fat quarters and 1 yard of background fabric, meaning you probably already have all of the fabric you need in your sewing room!

It comes together quickly and finishes as a 40″ square, making it a great option for a baby quilt. If you want it a little bigger, you can adjust the square size or add borders.

My Version of Big Woven Star

For my version of this quilt, fabric that I already had.

The great thing about this quilt is that it uses just 4 fat quarters and 1 yard of background fabric. That means you likely already have what you need!

I used all Bella Solids but I don’t have the exact colors because they weren’t labeled in my fat quarter bin!

I plan to back and bind this quilt with Ponderosa Sapling Country Floral by Stacy Iest Hsu.

What is a Fat Quarter?

Fat Quarters are quarter yards of fabric that are cut the “fat” way instead of in strips. Fat Quarters measure 18″ x 21″.

Fat Quarters are a great way to get a bundle of fabric from a single fabric line or to get curated fabric that works well together. Fat Quarter bundles are one of my favorite precuts because they offer large cuts of fabric that can be used for almost any type of quilt pattern.
