I’m super excited to share the Charming Four Patch pattern with you! This pattern takes a classic four-patch quilt block and turns it into a sweet quilt made specifically for charm packs!
It comes together quickly and has two sizes: 36″ x 36″ and 52″ x 52″. The baby size uses 2 charm packs and the throw size uses 2 charm packs plus 1 1/2 yards of background fabric.
My Version of Charming Four Patch
For my version of this quilt, I used the fabric line Gingham Fields by My Mind’s Eye.
The assortment of greens is perfect for a gender-neutral baby quilt!
For the background, I opted to use an Off White Confetti Solid 5″ Stacker instead of cutting yardage.
The backing fabric is Gingham Fields Olive Gingham.
I like to choose a backing fabric that is from the same fabric line as the precut fabric that I use. I look for something that is either a large print or not too busy when used on a big scale. I think this gingham design is perfect!
The binding is Confetti Cottons Lodge Pole. I thought a darker binding would frame the quilt well with the white background and I love how it turned out!

What is a Charm Pack?
Charm Packs are 5″ precut squares of fabric that typically come in packs of 42. The fabrics coordinate because they come from the same fabric line, so I love that it takes the guesswork out of choosing fabric!
Charm Packs are an affordable way to get a sampling of an entire fabric line and there are tons of patterns designed specifically with charm packs in mind.

Charming Four Patch Free Pattern
While I know this pattern isn’t revolutionary, I do enjoy turning classic quilt blocks into something that is precut-friendly. I love making patterns where you can shop your fabric stash and whip up the quilt in an afternoon – all with very little fabric waste!
With 2 charm packs, you can make either the baby or throw size! Try using two of the same charm packs for a scrappy look, two coordinating charm packs for a fun and colorful vibe, or one neutral charm pack and one patterned charm pack like I did!
