How Big Should a Quilt Be?

Standard quilt sizes aren't really a thing, but there are size guidelines to help you make the right size quilt. Below is a chart to help you get started.

Baby Quilt

30" x 40" is a great size for a tummy time or stroller quilt. Keep in mind that baby will grow quickly, so consider a larger size if you want this quilt to grow with baby!

Crib Quilt

36" x 52" will hang over the sides of the crib mattress. Although infants won't use this size quilt in their crib, toddlers will love the extra cuddle. Bonus: The small size makes it easy for kids to carry!

Throw Quilt

Nearly any quilt that isn't bed sized can be considered a throw quilt. 50" x 65" is a great starting size, but anything between 50" and 70" is perfect for a throw size quilt.

Twin Quilt

70" x 90" will fit a twin size mattress and drape of the side of the bed nicely. You may need to add borders or an extra row of blocks to get the long measurements!

Full/Double Quilt

85" x 108" will fit a double mattress and allow for overhang. If you only want to cover the mattress, try for a 54" x 74" quilt.
